LUNCH 

The lunch period is an important part of every child's social development. It is preferable for children to have lunch at school starting with eating lunch together in the classroom, followed by the lunch recess period outdoors. 

The school canteen currently operates on Wednesday and Fridays, and offers nutritious lunches at a reasonable cost. The School Council employs a canteen manager to organise rosters, order supplies and supervise food preparation. A menu and price list will be forwarded to every family early in the year.

Canteen lunch orders are collected from the rooms each canteen morning.

Please assist the canteen staff by showing clearly on your lunch bag your child's name and class, the items ordered and prices with a total cost. Should you be concerned about the money getting lost, include the money in a small plastic coin bag which is freely available from any bank.

The importance of developing good eating habits is emphasised at every grade level and supported by the school canteen. 
Classes participate in a daily snack time at 10 am. The children are encouraged to snack on a piece of fruit or vegetable without disrupting working time. 
For several reasons, drinks in cans or bottles, lollies, and chewing gum are not to be brought into the school. 
On wet days the children will stay indoors during lunchtime and complete activities in the classroom under the supervision of teachers.

THINGS THAT WILL MAKE CANTEEN LIFE EASY

- Use a paper bag which is big enough to place your order lunch in.

- Always put your name and grade on your lunch order bag.

- Write clearly how many of a particular item your want (eg: 4 chicken nuggets).

- Write the amounts for the food you order then add them up and write the total on the bag.

- Correct money please.

- If you are worried about losing you money in your lunch order bag rather than taping or stapling the bag, place the money in a plastic coin bag (free from the bank) with your name on it.

- All frozen food is collected from the canteen at lunchtime (it is not included in the lunch order bag). Frozen food is generally highlighted to remind you to collect it from the canteen.

- Hot food vegetarian options include – zucchini slice, hot potato (winter), corn (summer) and spinach and cheese triangles. All made with fresh ingredients.
