VISUAL ARTS

ART Club

The Grade 5 and 6 students loved exploring their hippy roots in Art Club. The Tie-Dying activity drew great interest with the first Art Club meeting transforming the art room into a psychedelic Laundromat! A great experience had by all! We would like to invite all Grade 5 and 6 student’s interested in participating in Art Club to the TUESDAY lunchtime meetings.

News from the Art Room

Thank you to all the prep parents who have sent in a variety of fabrics for the prep art activity. Also to the parents who have donated paper and tiles for art activities - it is very much appreciated. The Preps have finished their Class Gallery of themselves and each class is displayed outside the main office. Please pop by and have a look at their wonderful work.

The Level 2 children have been working on dinosaur pictures using crayons and food dye, they are also creating a collage of a dinosaur forest using paint and a variety of materials, these are displayed outside the staffroom.

Level 3 have been designing their names on personal art folios, painting and creating a collage of a beach scene related to their Water topic. Some of their work is on display outside the art room.

Level 4 have been designing their names in graffiti style for their art folios and have been working on front and back profiles from a digital photo of themselves. On their front profile they have had to draw the axis of symmetry on their face and then decorate one side of their face to reflect their inner self. On the back profile they have to draw a scene showing what they are looking at and using ink and crayon to colour their hair strands. Many have depicted a sporting event while others have been at the beach, watching volcanoes erupt or viewing their favourite movies.

SEPS Art Show

The SEPS Art Show was an outstanding success. The children worked hard over number of weeks to complete their beautiful art pieces that were exhibited in interesting displays in every classroom on the night. It was an exciting night with many of our families sup-porting the event, following the arrows to take them on the SEPS Art Trail. The themes for the Art Trail were the Olympic Games and China. The art work from each class reflected one aspect of these topics. The displays offered an extensive range of styles and mediums. We congratulate all of our students and Mrs. Baker on the wonderful art works all of which were available for purchase on the night. During the trail we were entertained by musical ensemble items played by our students and our choir singing in the hall. The hall was a hive of activity with the si-lent auction of donated art works and local artists displays.
A great night was had by all and we would like to extend our thanks to Fiona Rich and Nola Baker for their organisation of this very enjoyable event. We would like to thank the following people and organisations for their support and donations that helped to make this night so fantastic:

- All the Artists who donated to the Silent Auction
- Andrea Bell & Sally Harrop for making the great Art shirts worn by the teachers.
- Local Artists operating exhibits and sales on the night - Unique Jewellery, Julian Cowley, Phoenix Trading and Lisa Cox.
- Angie Gall , Lynne Watts, Sally Harrop and Alison Clarke for setting up, serving drinks and supervising the front door.
- The parents who helped set up the displays in the classrooms.
- The SEPS staff for setting up the displays, supervising the classrooms and managing the sales on the night.
- The great Musicians
- Our talented students

The Major purpose of the Visual Arts Program is to develop the children's ability to create and appreciate art. They explore and communicate their own ideas, feelings and beliefs through participation.

The program encourages personal and skill development, artistic expression and response, as well as enjoyment through involvement. It extends creative learning, develops aesthetic awareness and fosters an understanding and appreciation of the art of other people, cultures and times.
